The Bramor Takes Flight

For the first time in a long time, the weather was finally good enough for a flight. With anticipation the team ensured all procedures before going out to the field were done and then met at the area of interest. The purpose of the first mission was to collect data from the whole area of interest at the park.

Area of Interest

Creating a fixed GCP point

The Aeropoints were dispersed across the park and the park was scanned for any visitors. The checklist were read through aloud for the team to hear. Since the Bramor takeoff (catapault) and landing (parachute) capability was new to our team, we were all extra cautious of our first mission. A flight brief was completed where we reviewed our roles and spread out across the park since most of us were visual observers. We utilized an app on our phones, Zello, for communication.

For the most part, our mission went smoothly and next we will be checking the final quality of our data collected. This mission taught us a lot in terms of flight operations, crew resource management, and procedures. We will definitely continue to focus more on these factors as we continue to fly.
