Outline Updates
So far, I have a very rough outline for the paper started. I have added a couple of main points, but they will need rearranging and more added detail. Here are some of the recommendations for solutions that I hope to address in the journal.
1. Include an ethics component in academic settings
2. Implement a cost-effective plan for academic and commercial use
3. Focus on improving crew resource management skills
4. Adaptable strategies need to be adopted for curriculum in northern climates
(i.e. Teaching students using GIS programs or coding programs)
UAS Logo
For a couple of weeks, I have been brainstorming a logo to represent our major here at Purdue. At first, I was going to include a quadcopter, but Professor Hupy, my peers, and I agree that we wanted to show that our field if more than quadcopters. So I decided to go with a fixed wing design. Also the logo included waves to show we utilize UAS to collect data. We wanted to show that UAS is more than flying UAVs. The final logo is below.
Poster Synopsium
For our class, we decided to enter into our school of aviation's poster synopsis. We split our class of 8 into 3 teams. I will mainly be working with Evan on the subject of utilizing drones to measure flood levels. Over the next few weeks, I will be including more details on our progress. We will need to have our final draft ready by early March. We will be reviewing our posters to our class at least a week before to make sure we catch any mistakes before we present.
Python Coding Course
Starting tomorrow, I will be taking a weekly entry-level Python coding course. I am hoping that during the next weeks up to my Python Certification for the completion of the course that I will be able to utilize what I learn from this course for UAS applications in the future.
